A practical introduction to planning a responsible boat holiday exchange.

A GOOD PLACE TO START

Understand the essentials.

Do I need to own a boat to take part?

Swap My Boat is intended for boat owners. You can create an account and submit a boat listing for review. Any proposed exchange requires agreement between owners, appropriate insurance and compliance with local rules.

Does a swap need to happen on the same dates?

Not necessarily. The parties may explore arrangements on matching or different dates, subject to their agreed terms and what the platform supports.

Can a boat remain in the marina?

A boat-based holiday without navigating the vessel may be an option if the owners, marina and insurer agree.

Is insurance automatically included?

No. Owners should seek explicit confirmation from their insurer that the proposed exchange, location and operators are covered.

Are the boat examples on this website available to book?

No. The boat profiles currently shown in Explore Boats are concept examples and are not available for exchange. Owner registration and boat submissions are available, but a published profile is not a confirmed booking or exchange offer.

What happens if an owner cancels?

Cancellation arrangements should be agreed in writing before an exchange, including any costs and alternative arrangements.
